Look in the foreground-bad erosion issues and no grass.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]
Roots are soaked with water, and can’t breathe.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]
The center of the backyard becomes a mosquito-infested pond during the rainy season.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]
DURING
This French Drain Trench was cut in April of 2010 in the middle of the dry season. The standing water seen in the trench is the level of the groundwater. It is within 6 inches of the surface. This is April…if the ground is nearly saturated in April, the very peak of the dry season, it is certain that it is over-saturated through the entire rainy season. No wonder no grass would grow. No wonder the shrubs were dead or dying. No wonder there was such severe erosion!
This picture also shows how PDE does its work. We clean-cut the sod and the trench when the sod and the soil will support a clean-cut. We keep the sod on site and replace it as quickly as possible, right back where it came from. If additional sod is needed, that will become part of the contract.

Clean cut trench, but crummy conditions, so sometimes things can get a little messy.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]
We use commercial-grade products for our residential projects.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]
Materials laid out while trench is dug for the drain, which will eliminate standing water on the pool deck.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]
Work in progress.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]

One design feature we emphasize at PDE is the actual discharge end of the drainage system. We typically specify and construct a hand-trowled, concrete collar, mitered-end system (MES).[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]
Main trench, which includes a “T” and the discharge line to the nearby creek.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]
In the process of turning into a French drain – eco fabric and bedding gravel go in.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_column_text]
We routed the pipeline around the tree to protect its roots.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_column_text]
Backfilling completed – no sod yet.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_column_text]
A large drain is installed where the mosquito-infested “pond” used to pool.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_column_text]
The tree where erosion was all around now has new soil and will be sodded.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]
AFTER
[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_column_text]
No evidence of the drain PDE installed to relieve the flooding on the pool deck. NO MORE STANDING WATER, even in the wet season.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_column_text]
Before the erosion issues caused tree roots to show and grass would not grow.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_column_text]
No more mosquito-infested “pond” for a backyard![/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_column_text]
Now a beautiful and lush yard thanks to the PDE-engineered design.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
